For a number of years, we have been looking for another house, offering more space in general, room for teenagers and more storage to maintain better order overall.
We found our former house too impractical in many ways and wanted a radical change. A lot of alternatives were considered, including an entire replacement of the upper floor and various enlargements, but all attempts were unsuccessful.
We decided to sell, trying to find something new or old. Our choices were great with the restriction of remaining in the rural district. A future move to another house was facilitated by the fact that both boys go to a school with singing classes, that is, they attend singing and music theory classes on a daily basis. Hence, their classmates are spread over T and its adjacent towns. The boys definitely accepted a move to any other part of T, particularly if transportation to their school was simpler than the commute from where we lived.
To avoid buying and selling at the same time, expecting a recession in the real estate market and with the ambition to be able to restore the next house completely before moving in, we decided to rent a flat. For a year and a half, we've been living in a four-room flat in downtown T. We thought that we would remain here for some nine months. Having the detailed schedule now, we now know that we will be in this flat for 2.5 years. We're starting to get used to the crowding here and the 75 unpacked moving boxes!
From April to December 2006, we looked at numerous houses, with discouraging results. Simultaneously, we were toying with the idea of building something completely new and modern.
A turning point was a trip to the neighboring town of V. We looked at a show-house from M y r e s j ö. This house was so beautiful. We were thrilled and almost immediately decided that our goal was to start with a completely new house and to find a lot as soon as possible.
Since May 2006, on the web we had been looking at a lot that was for sale but far too expensive. This lot was located some two kilometers north of where we lived.
I remember calling the seller's real estate agent in October 2006, and noticing that the general interest in this lot was low. Still, we thought it was far too mountainous. In December 2006, the price was lowered by SEK 500,000 (USD 77,000).
Meanwhile, at the office, I was involved in a development project, where our project manager was also in the midst of a house construction project. A H and her husband M inspired us a lot. A H also had experience from a house manufacturer, W i l l a N o r d i c and an building contractor, L M R. She said these companies were extremely good. Another colleague, O M, also bought a W N house and was very pleased with the manufacturer.
Our new house project started on February 2, 2007. We bought the lot that had been listed for sale for nine months. No one else was stupid enough to want to build a house on this cliff!
