The Clear-cut

If you've ever looked up our new address using Eniro's maps and the "view" fimctopm (utsikt, in Swedish), you would have seen this image:You probably notice that the lot was tightly covered and possibly saw that it is located at a quite high elevation.
In mid-September my cousin Fr Sa came over. He's a brave man and an expert at cutting down trees. F helped us clear the lot. This image shows the lot from the east, just before we started clearing it. I will post more images from this direction later. Having visited the lot today, I can assure you that it looks completely different now.

We cleared the lot for ten hours and left four enormous piles of brushwood and some 200 wood blocks for later cutting.

We intended to burn up the brushwood and some clear wood remnants from the shed and the outhouse. However, the easterly neighbor demanded that we not do so, or at least wait for easterly winds. Autumns in Sweden rarely have easterly winds, so we waited and waited and waited. Finally, in November, we had strong easterly winds, and I took a day off to burn up everything. After 16 hours of hard work, one pile of brushwood still remained. This pile was later removed and delivered to the dump.
This is how it looked on a nice day in November 2007. Prior to that, my brothers and the family had piled up all of the wood blocks and, upon recommendation from L M R (the general contractor), moved the pile to a location off the lot. Now (November 2007), the lot was ready for the blasting team.
