A Geothermal Hole
Reported on September 14:
Tonight two borers arrived from the district of Jämtland in the north of Sweden!
E r i k, to the right and H a n s - G ö r a n, in the lower part, tonight started to bore some 215 meter downwards.
There are two machines. The front one is the bore rig and behind it is the compresser. The bore consists of an auger and tens or even hundreds of tubes. Through the orange hose, the compressor supplies compressed air with a pressure of 30 bars. The compressed air is used to hit the bore and by brute force to press the remainder of the rock upwards to the ground, even if the hole is 200 meters deep.
This picture was shot from almost the same angle, but on July 24, 2007.
